- Longer opioid-use-disorder treatment around childbirth is associated with fewer postpartum overdoses or deaths
JAMA Network Open
Cohort study, 9,360 pregnancies. Longer medication coverage was associated with lower risk through one year postpartum; this was not randomized evidence. - Iatrogenic menopause before age 45 is associated with increased cardiovascular and overall mortality
JAMA Network Open
Meta-analysis, 36 studies and approximately 2.6 million women. Cardiovascular morbidity was elevated; mortality excess was concentrated in earlier menopause. - Facilitated cascade testing increases BRCA testing among at-risk relatives
Journal of Clinical Oncology
Cluster-randomized trial. Six-month testing uptake: 73.2% with navigation versus 50.7% with standard care. - Timely hepatitis B birth-dose vaccination was associated with less mother-to-child transmission.
Clinical Infectious Diseases
Ethiopian observational study, 387 infants. Transmission occurred in 0/39 receiving birth-dose vaccination alone versus 20/131 without birth immunoprophylaxis. Small, nonrandomised groups. - Pregnancy hypertension marked later dementia risk, but the association weakened after accounting for subsequent vascular disease.
JAMA Network Open
Korean cohort of 1.37 million women. Adjusted HR fell from 1.96 to 1.15, becoming nonsignificant after additional adjustment. Few dementia events warrant caution. - Intravenous iron improved haemoglobin and reduced transfusion compared with oral iron in pregnancy.
JAMA Network Open
Meta-analysis of 29 RCTs, 11,771 participants. Transfusion RR 0.63; haemoglobin at delivery approximately 0.59 g/dL higher. - Higher maternal egg and peanut intake did not prevent infant egg or peanut allergy.
NEJM
- Adoption of azithromycin prophylaxis for unscheduled cesarean delivery was associated with fewer postpartum infections.
